OSSUM MUSIC ACADEMY – OUR LEGACY
OSSUM Music Academy, originally known as Om Shree Sangeet Upasana Mandir, carries a rich musical legacy that began in 1927. Founded by Pandit Mahadev Sharma Shastri, a disciple of Pt. Omkarnath Thakur and a revered Samved Acharya, the institute was established to spread the purity of Indian Classical Music through discipline, devotion, and the Guru–Shishya Parampara.This legacy has been carried forward across four generations of dedicated musicians.

Fourth Generation – A New Era at OSSUM Music Academy
In 2016, the youngest inheritor of this lineage, Abhignya Shastri, re-established the institute as OSSUM Music Academy, introducing a modern academic approach to a timeless tradition. He was joined by Vishal Kulkarni, a devoted disciple of Pt. Shardkumar Shastri, trained under the Guru–Shishya Parampara in classical flute.
Together, they blend traditional purity with structured learning, offering classical and contemporary music education for all age groups while carrying forward the true spirit of Indian classical music.
