Being born into a family with a rich musical background, Abhigya Shastri began his musical training at an early age under the guidance of Pandit Jayant Kumar Shastri. He later pursued advanced and in-depth training in Tabla under the mentorship of his uncle, Shri Vashishtha Shastri. He has been the winner of various competitions organized by the Government and Universities. He was also honored with the “Talent of the Year” Award by D.R.B. Commerce College. The institution Om Shree Sangeet Upasana Mandir, founded in 1927 by Pandit Mahadev Sharma Shastri in Surat, has been carrying forward the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara (teacher-disciple tradition) for generations. In 2017, keeping pace with modern times and integrating both Indian Classical and Western Music, the institution was rebranded as OSSUM Music Academy. Today, many students are pursuing Visharad-level studies and gaining in-depth knowledge of classical music through the academy. Abhigya Shastri has been invited as a Judge and Chief Guest at prestigious events and competitions, including Kala Mahakumbh, University Youth Festivals, state-level competitions organized by the Government of Gujarat, and events conducted by universities such as Uka Tarsadia University and Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. He has earned recognition in both the Guinness World Records and the Limca Book of Records for his Tabla performances. Additionally, one of his students has also recently achieved a Guinness World Record, reflecting the academy's commitment to excellence. He has served as the Administrative Head of the Mahagujarat Gandharva Sangeet Samiti and has also held the position of President at a music institution managed by Jeevan Bharti Mandal. Currently, he serves as the Music Convener at the Rashtriya Kala Kendra, continuing his contribution to the promotion and preservation of music and culture.
